Shelby Resident Makes World Better, 1 Hug at a Time

Students from the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in Sterling Heights try to make Royal Oak a better place today - and it's working.

Juan Garza, of Shelby, and Kayla Smith, of St. Clair Shores, say they are trying to make the world a better place by offering free hugs in downtown Royal Oak today.

Garza and Smith, along with a couple dozen students from the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in Sterling Heights could be found up and down Main Street with arms wide open.

It's all part of Paul Mitchell school's 4th Annual Free Hugs Day, which is taking place across the country.

"I've gotten about 20 hugs today," Eagin said. "We just moved to  Royal Oak a couple of days ago and we're getting a great welcome."

The free hugging continues through 9 p.m. tonight, so get one (or dozens) while the supply lasts.
