@ShelbyUPatch: Whom to Follow on Twitter

Increasingly, Twitter has become an important element in the media's day-to-day operations. Here's a look at whom Shelby-Utica Patch follows, and how we use it to bring you the best in local news.

The dictionary.com definition of Twitter is “to talk lightly and rapidly."

And that’s exactly what the micro-blogging site is. Short, 140 characters in length, Tweets ranging in subject matter as far and wide as celebrity gossip, politics, news, pictures and sometimes, just random rambles.

But Twitter isn’t just for finding out what someone ate for breakfast that day. For Patch, it has helped editors stay afloat on national and local news, get better connected with the community, and, sometimes, find story ideas.
