Snow Storm Prompts Snow Emergency In Shelby, Utica

Snow storm dumps up to 10 inches of snow in and around Shelby and Utica.

Shelby Township and Utica officials have declared a snow emergency after last night’s winter storm dumped up to 10 inches of snow overnight.

The snow storm made the morning commute treacherous in many areas, but luckily the area escaped ice accumulation altogether.

The National Weather Service canceled the winter storm warning around 7 a.m. Monday. The forecast calls for light snow throughout today — and continuing the rest of the week.

Major delays were being reported on nearly every freeway and major road in the county, as most roads remain snow-covered and very slippery this morning.

The Shelby Township trash pickup will be delayed one day due to the snow and municipal offices were already closed for President's Day.
