Wake Up, Shelby and Utica: July 1

Get the news you need to know to get you ready for the holiday weekend.

Happy first day of July. Though it’s hard to believe we are halfway through 2011 (only six more months to 2012!), Shelby-Utica Patch soldiers on to bring you all the news you need to know this morning as you prepare for the holiday weekend.

  1. The weather will be warming up today, with a high approaching 85 degrees. There is a chance of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. The weekend will be hot, with a high near 90 on Saturday and a high near 83 on Sunday.
  2. Joel Ricketts is ready for the heat, and he’s ready for his new job with the Shelby Township Fire Department. Find out more about Joel and his great expectations, and read about other the other new firefighters, too.
