Wake Up, Shelby and Utica: Sept. 8

Today's going to be a busy day in Shelby and Utica, so get a quick dose of the top stories.

  • Today is the day Patch Editors Marina Cracchiolo and Jenny Whalen hit the catwalk. We'll be modeling for the Sizzle with Style Sterling Heights Chamber of Commerce event at Ike's Restaurant. Stay tuned for what I am sure is going to be an entertaining video of the event.
  • It's also a big day for former Detroit Red Wings star Dino Ciccarelli as he cuts the ribbon on his new bar, Ciccarelli's Sports Bar and Theater. The party starts at 5:30 p.m., so stop by after work. Who knows, you may even end up having a beer with a sports star.
  • Shelby Township has cleared the way for a Kentucky-based health care company to open a new medical facility at the corner of 21 Mile and Schoenherr roads.
  • The Shelby Township Board of Trustees agreed Tuesday night to rezone the Cherry Creek Corporate Park into an Industrial Development District to attract more businesses.
  • A resolution to speed up the process of moving the 41-A District Court to Macomb Township has been signed.
