Public Input Requested: Building Water Trails Along the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair

The Clinton River Watershed Council invites the public to share their ideas for building water trails along the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair.

The Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC) recently received a Coastal Zone Management (CZM) grant to develop a water trail master plan for two area water trails:  the Clinton River Water Trail, which runs from the river’s headwaters in Oakland County to its mouth in Harrison Township, and the Lake St. Clair Coastal Water Trail which starts in St Clair Shores and runs all the way to Anchor Bay.

A water trail is a paddling route along a river or coastline.

Public input is needed to help identify opportunities and challenges for establishing the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair Coastal Water Trails as premier regional paddling destinations.

CRWC has partnered with Land Information Access Association of Traverse City to help develop the project.  Additional partners include Macomb County, Oakland County, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, Michigan Sea Grant, and the Lake St. Clair Tourism Initiative,

CRWC has scheduled a “drop in” visioning session for the public from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, September 18th, to allow the public to view maps and inventory data, and share their thoughts and ideas about how to improve the paddling amenities along these waterways.
