Back to the Beach Runners Donate $2,500 for Paint Creek Trail

Funds will help purchase new drinking fountain for trail.

The Sterling Heights-based Back to the Beach Runners recently donated $2,500 to the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail to help fund the purchase of a new drinking fountain for the trail.

“Funds for our donation came from annual running of the Stony Creek 'Back To The Beach' Half Marathon 10k and 5k, which is held each May and runs in and around Stony Creek Metropark," Joe Burns, President of Back to the Beach Runners, said in an email. "Helping to support the placement of a new fountain near Tienken Road was an easy decision since our Back to the Beach Runners group is represented by many of the local clubs in the area who always train on the Paint Creek Trail. These clubs include the Stoney Creek Running Club, Your Pace or Mine, Infinite Multisport Triathlon Club, Team in Training and Just Finish.”

Jim Van Doorn, President of Friends of the Paint Creek Trail, was happy to accept the donation on behalf of the group.
