Weingartz, Gleaners Team Up to Help Feed the Community

This locally-owned outlet wants to raise 1 million meals by Oct. 17.

The Weingartz family, who live in Shelby Township and own five outdoor power equipment stores in Michigan, are working to help Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan feed hungry children in Michigan through the "Mow Down Hunger" campaign.

"Our family has long supported programs that provide for people in the community who are hungry," Weingartz President Dan Weingartz said. "Four years ago, when Weingartz stepped in as the Mow Down Hunger matching sponsor, we were excited to see how our customers, and especially employees, embraced the campaign."

Mow Down Hunger campaign proceeds will support Gleaners’ BackPack and Mobile Pantry programs. The BackPack program distributes backpacks filled with nutritious food for the weekend. Each Mobile Pantry distribution provides approximately 200 households with 50 pounds of nonperishable food, produce and protein.
