I moved to this complex and stayed for almost a year and moved just before my lease expired and my rent was going up for $1,125 to $1,200 per month. The townhome is upscale some have granite counter tops some dont but they are all the same price. Hardwood floors are nice but the construction and design is horrible. The floors creek and you can even hear the people in the unit next to you walking because their floors creek also.

I stayed in two units. I moved out of my first unit because my next door neighbors like to hang out in the garage. (which was built under my living room floor) Also, they like to do car repairs (which is against the lease) but the complex does not enforce it. This happened at unit 1 and unit 2.

I moved in another unit thinking it would be a little better but not. The neighbor next to me was crude, rude and threw his cigarette butts all over the place and left his garbage on his balcony which was unsightly and it smelled. The neighbors on the other side of me would use my garbage can leaving me without a place to put my garbage until the garbage man came the following week.

I emailed the manager (Heidi) and told her I was moving out and the date. Both units I move into had dirty and nasty appliances because they were not cleaned when the tenant moved out. I took the time to clean everything because I did not want to leave the unit in the condition that it was given to me. The townhome has nice hardwood floors that had a horrible film on them and I was told to clean it with vinegar and water which only made a minor dent in removing the film.

After I moved out, I emailed the manager twice to find out how my unit check out and what was the status of my deposit. She did not respond until my third email almost a month later to tell me that my unit had a cat odor/smell and that my refund would not be given because they had to remove the carpet. I was shocked because when I had the carpet cleaned before I left, I used their carpet company and at no time was I ever told there was a urine smell or stain. I know there was nothing at all. Both the carpet company and the movers can attest to this. I walked around that unit for an additional 2 days after I moved out cleaning and wiping down and there was nothing wrong with that unit at all.

Word to the wise. Make sure you do a complete walkthrough with management before you turn over your keys. Harvard Oaks lied about the condition of my unit to keep the security deposit. Not only am I disappointed, but this was completely unprofessional as any apartment complex will send you a letter outlining damages (if any) along with your deposit and I never received anything from Harvard Oak.

This place is poorly located and ingress and egress out of the complex is a headache. It is located off a heavy traffic side street which gets all the overflow traffic from Hayes. Schoenherr and Hall Road. Additionally, it is across the street from LifeTime Fitness and additional traffic is absorded from members who attend Lifetime. They also park their cars and walk across the street which adds to the congestion in the complex. Cars that are broken and not running are left in the complex and not towed in a timely manager. People work on cars changing brakes and the like. Pet owners (dogs - and I love dogs), but homeowners dont pick up their pets droppings which is unsanitary and triffling.

Save your money and avoid the headache and move else were. The complex looks good on the outside but its not worth the exorbant rent that you have to pay to live here.
