How to Make 'Easter Bunny Bait' for the Holiday

Here's a fun and easy snack you can make with your kids for the holiday.

Although chocolate bunnies and Peeps are a couple of the candies you probably associate most with Easter,  we wanted to bring back a favorite recipe shared on Patch last year: Easter bunny bait.

If you are looking for a fun, colorful, quick and easy Easter treat, "bunny bait" may be just the thing.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag popped microwave popcorn
  • 1 11-ounce package of white chocolate chips (I used Ghiradelli)
  • 1 bag of Easter M&Ms (can be any variety - I used peanut M&Ms)
  • Pretzel sticks broken into half-inch pieces
  • Sprinkles
  • Food coloring (if desired)

Preparation:

Spread the popcorn and pretzel pieces out in a jelly roll pan or on parchment paper.

Melt the chocolate chips according to package directions (Note: I added a small amount of milk to get the melted chocolate to pouring consistency).

Add food coloring to the melted chocolate if desired. My daughter and I decided to make ours a pale apricot color.

Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn and pretzel bits. Add sprinkles, but do not stir (see photo).

After the chocolate hardens, break the popcorn/pretzel mixture into smaller pieces and toss with M&Ms.
