Photos: Silent Night in Lit up Utica

Check out photos of downtown Utica's serene glow during the holidays.

It was a beautiful silent night in downtown Utica Tuesday as I cruised down the streets looking for holiday decorations to try out my new holiday light photo tips.

Thanks to Patch photographer , who published an on how to capture the beauty of holiday lights using a professional camera and even a point-and-shoot camera.

Maurer was right: The key to photographing holiday lights is to have a long shutter speed, which will allow the camera's sensor to pick up the small amount of light coming from the bulbs.

From the 20-foot decorated Christmas tree to the glow of the thousands of lights strung outside , and wreath lined street lights, downtown Utica is beautiful and serene during the holidays.

The main attraction, however, is Cass Bar and Grill's light show, which changes four different colors and is timed to Silent Night.
