Walking - > Cans -> Bottle Return = WIN-WIN!
If you see a man walking and picking up cans in Shelby Township, Rochester or Rochester Hills . . . that might just be Angelo. Give him a "thumbs-up!"
I was feeling kinda melancholy today . . . not really my nature . . . until I met Angelo at the bottle return. You've got to hear his story!
I was mindlessly inserting my bottles & cans into the return chute. (boring!) I noticed the gentleman next to me meticulously placing the cans onto the chute.
He took a 2 liter flattened plastic bottle and said, "Watch this!" He blew air into it so that the bottle inflated, and placed it in chute. (It worked - bottle accepted.)

Long story short . . . Angelo and I got to talking. He's close to 80 years old and is a retired electrical engineer. A few years ago he had a heart attack. Since that time he walks about 2 miles every day. And while he walks . . . he picks up bottles and cans. Angelo picks up 40-50 cans a day! You'll be amazed at how much money he's accumulated just by doing that.
