3 Vehicles Leave Tire Impressions on Northpointe Blvd During Construction

Police are warning drivers to follow traffic signs while driving through construction sites.

At least three vehicles have driven through fresh wet cement during the reconstruction of Northpointe Boulevard in Utica in the past two weeks, costing the city thousands of dollars to repair the damage.

Northpointe Boulevard—which runs off Hall Road, between Schoenherr Road and the M-53 expressway and curves to intersect with Schoenherr, just north of Hall Road—is a busy road since several large retailers such as and are located in the area.

Since construction started on April 16, police have been called to the area on at least three occasions. The first time a vehicle drove through 500 feet of wet cement on April 20, resulted in $3,000 in damages.

On May 3, construction foreman witnessed a vehicle drive around orange barrels blocking the fresh cement and drive through. As construction workers assessed damage from the first vehicle, they witnessed a second car drive on the fresh wet cement. Both vehicles left tire impressions on the road, resulting in about $7,000 in damages.
