UPDATED: Macomb County Courthouse Reopens After Bomb Threat

Chief Judge Pro-Tem James Biernat Jr. "wanted to err on the side of caution" with decision to evacuate six-story building.

The Macomb County Circuit Court reopened at 2:15 p.m. Monday after it was shut down while bomb-sniffing dogs went through the building.

Nothing suspicious was found.

The Macomb County Sheriff told WXYZ, Detroit's ABC affiliate, that investigators are trying to track down a phone number for the man who called in a bomb threat Monday morning and said a bomb inside courthouse would explode sometime during the day.

Bomb-sniffing police dogs are going through the Macomb County Circuit Court building, which is temporarily closed this morning while authorities investigate a bomb threat.

A threat was made by a male caller about 9:20 a.m. Monday, The Macomb Daily reports. The courthouse will likely remain closed until this afternoon.

He reportedly said a bomb inside the six-story courthouse at 420 Main St. in Mount Clemens would explain later in the day.
