Class Resumes at Ford High School After Smoke Detected

Students at Ford High School return to class after a belt on a rooftop heating and cooling unit creates smoke and sets off the fire alarm Friday morning.

School is back in session at Ford High School after it was evacuated Friday morning because smoke was detected.

Sterling Heights Assistant Fire Chief Mike Deprez said the fire alarm sounded around 10 a.m. after the belt on a heating and cooling unit on the roof of the building snapped and pushed smoke out into the air.

“There was no fire–just smoke,” said Deprez.
