Crime Blotter: Vehicle Ransacked, Toy Plane and Car Parts Stolen

Toy Airplane Stolen From Home 

A homeowner reported to the Utica Police Department that someone stole a fiberglass toy airplane from his yard on Davis Street June 29. The plane was bolted to a two-wheel wagon. It is large enough for a child to sit in and is valued at approximately $500. The homeowner did not know who may have stolen the plane.

The owner of a 2008 Ford Taurus reported to Utica Police July 1 that someone ransacked his vehicle as it was parked outside the La Quinta Hotel on Park Ave. The car was parked outside the hotel overnight and when the owner returned next morning, he found the passenger door open. The owner reported that items in his glove box and center console were taken out and laying on the seat. The only thing missing was a North American Hunting Club coin. 

Catalytic Converters Stolen

An employee of the Red Ox Tavern on Park Ave. reported to Utica Police July 2 that someone had removed the catalytic converter from her 2002 Pontiac Aztec while she worked. The car had been parked outside the restaurant all day and when the employee tried to start the car at night, she noticed the exhaust was loud. She checked under the car and discovered the mission exhaust component. Another vehicle was also affected, but the owner refused file a police report. Area businesses were notified to keep an eye on vehicles.
