Family Of Late Airman, New Baltimore Officer Speaks His Love Of Family And Community

The widow of Patrick Wisniewski Sr. spoke emotionally Friday of her late husband's love of family, community and country at a press conference held at the New Baltimore Police Department.

Jennifer Wisniewski addressed the media and members of the New Baltimore Police Department, and other agencies, before the visitation began at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

She spoke of how they met, his plans for the summer and the last conversation they had on the night he died. She said he called home and asked her to warm up pizza, and then as she waited for him to come home, their girls found their wedding album.

"I know that was a sign ... I know that was him," said Wisniewski, who shortly later received the call about the accident.

Wisniewski was struck and killed Sunday by Gerald Belcher as he was driving his motorcycle home from work at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The 64-year-old Belcher was charged with one count of driving with a suspended license causing death and one count of operating while intoxicated. 

Memorial services are scheduled this week in New Baltimore. He will lie instate 9:30 a.m. until a 10 a.m. Liturgy, Saturday, June 8 at St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, 50931 Maria, New Baltimore, according to Gendernalik Funeral Home in New Baltimore.
