FBI: Violent Crimes Double in 2010 for Utica

According to the FBI, the number of crimes decreased in Utica from 2009 to 2010, but the number of aggravated assaults and violent crimes doubled.

Overall the number of crimes in Utica decreased from 2009 to 2010, according to data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

However, the number of violent crimes more than doubled in the past year, jumping from 10 in 2009 to 21 in 2010.

Aggravated assault cases in the city also doubled, from 7 in 2009 to 15 reported cases in 2010.

However, property crimes went down from 222 in 2009 to 204 in 2010.
