Held by armed husband, woman texts friend
Unable to escape from her husband, a 24-year-old Utica woman text messaged her friend to dispatch police to her home at the 45000 block of Kensington around 4:40 a.m. Jan. 3, according to Utica police.
When they arrived, police found the woman in the kitchen with the 25-year-old man, described as her common-law husband, who claimed nothing happened between the pair. However, the woman said he pointed a gun at her head while they were in the car, threatened to kill her and would not let her escape the vehicle, police said.
She said when he finally drove her home, he refused to leave so she secretly sent her friend a text message, telling her send police to her home out of fear she would be harmed, police said.
The man, whose residence is listed in Sterling Heights, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, domestic assault and possession of marijuana, the report states.
Patron leaves little to imagination outside Locker Room
A 44-year-old Rose City man was arrested slightly after midnight Jan. 3 outside the Locker Room Saloon in Utica for suspicion of disorderly conduct, according to Utica police.
During that time, an officer patrolling the area noticed the man unzip his pants, expose his penis and urinate in the Cass and Auburn area. The man, who was intoxicated, was taken into custody and held until he was sober, a police report states.
Shopping trip leaves customer without purse
A Shelby Township woman reported to Utica police that someone stole her 10-year-old daughter's leather purse Dec. 31 during a trip to Sam's Club on Utica Park Boulevard, according to police.
The woman said at one point she left her daughter's purse, which had a cell phone inside it, in the shopping cart. The purse likely was stolen while they were in the parking lot. No suspects were known, the report states.
