Man Attacks Stranger for Sticking Up for His Wife

Man insults wife, attacks shopper

A 33-year-old Farmington man, who had been insulting his wife during a shopping trip at Target on Hall Road, allegedly attacked a fellow customer who defended the suspect's spouse, according to a Utica police report.

At about 7 p.m. March 10, a 50-year-old Sterling Heights man overheard the suspect swearing and yelling at his wife inside the store and told him "he shouldn't be using that type of language or treating his wife like that," the report states.

He told police the husband then began swearing at him as he attempted to walk away. He then pushed an unknown object, possibly a can, into his back and punched him in the face as he turned around, police said.

An officer observed the older customer's cheek was red, but the victim declined to press charges, asking only that the suspect be warned by police for his behavior. Police and store officials warned the alleged attacker not to return to the store or he could be arrested for trespassing.

Snappy-dressed driver flees from pump

A female driver wearing a suit pumped $52 in gas around 12:20 p.m. March 5 at Shamrock Gas Station on Van Dyke, according to Utica police.

The woman made no attempt to pay before getting back into her red Nissan and driving off on Hall Road, police said. 

Car part snatched from Aztec

A man reported that someone stole the catalytic converter from his brother's car parked in early March in the Champps parking lot off Hall Road, according to a Utica police report.

He told police he parked the car around 6:30 p.m. March 6 and returned about two hours later. At that time, he discovered the part missing from the 2001 Pontiac Aztec, the report states.
