Pedestrian Found Injured On M-53, South of 26 Mile Road

An unidentified man was found lying on the northbound lanes of M-53, just south of 26 Mile Road in Shelby Township just after noon Tuesday.

An unidentified man was found lying on the northbound lanes of M-53, just south of 26 Mile Road in Shelby Township on Tuesday afternoon.

After receiving several calls from passers-by that a man was down on the freeway, the and responded to the scene at 12:36 p.m. and found the injured man. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

There is no word whether or not the man had been hit by a vehicle or how he ended up on the freeway. The incident is currently under investigation.

The freeway was blocked off at 26 Mile Road and traffic was backed up for several hours as police began their investigation. It has since re-opened.
