Police: Vandals Shoot-Up Shelby Township Insurance Agency

The Shelby Township police said vandals shot at the Farm Bureau Insurance building on 23 Mile and Van Dyke.

Vandals shot at the window of the Farm Bureau Insurance building on 23 Mile Road and Van Dyke sometime overnight. 

Nobody was in the building during the shooting and no injuries were reported. The bullet holes and shell casings were found at the Farm Bureau Insurance just before 8 a.m. when employees arrived at work. The bullets also damaged the exterior and interior of the building. 

Shelby Township Police Chief Roland Woelkers told Patch on Wednesday the department had received several calls about gun shots around 3 a.m. from residents in the subdivision across the street.

Woelkers said the sound of the gunshots probably echoed to the nearby subdivision.

"We heard the gun fire this morning! There also was someone knocking on our windows too," posted Shelby Township resident Robert Leenknegt on Facebook.

No one is in custody at this time.
