Royal Forest Home 'Totally Destroyed' in Fire

The burned out shell of a house remains on Knightsbridge Drive more than a week after a fire tore through the home.

A fire tore through a home in Royal Forest on Aug. 21, leaving a family displaced and the home totally destroyed.

The fire started in the garage of the home on Knightsbridge Street just before midnight, according to Shelby Township Batallion Chief Lance Watters.

The cause remains under investigation. However, Watters said the home is a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

It's not known if the family has insurance.

Boy Scout Troop 30714 is currently holding a bottle/can fundraiser for the family.  The Scouts will be collecting returnables in the Royal Forest subdivision on Wednesday, September 5th. Contributors to the bottle drive are also dropping returnables to: 14463 Knightsbridge Dr.
