Shelby Crime Briefs: Visteon Plant Theft; Spare Tire Stolen

The Shelby Township police are investigating a metal and equipment theft at the Visteon Plant.

A company hired to test the soil at the Visteon Plant on Mound Road reported their equipment was stolen from their trailers March 8.

A geologist employed by CRA Inc. told the Shelby police that when they arrived to work last week, they noticed electrical wires and a hydraulic line on their equipment had been cut, and the remote control for a driller was stolen.

Also, the lock on an equipment trailer had been cut, but nothing inside was missing.

There were no witnesses.

The spare tire on the back of a Jeep was stolen for the second time last Friday in the same parking lot.

The theft occurred in the Titi Nails parking lot. When the vehicle owner came out of the nail salon, she noticed the spare tire on the back of the SUV was gone. This was the second time in two weeks the tire was stolen. The victim told police it costs $500 to replace the spare tire.
