A Shelby Township man was injured in a fatal crash in Bruce Township Thursday evening.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Department said the three-vehicle crash happened on Van Dyke Avenue between 34 and 35 Mile roads around 7 p.m.
Deputies said a 32-year-old man from Clifford, MI. was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Van Dyke, and was waiting to make a left hand turn into the Romeo Rim Plant parking lot when he was struck from the rear. The vehicle that stuck him was a 1995 Ford F-350 pick up truck, driven by a 23-year-old man from Imlay City, MI. The collision pushed the Pontiac Grand Prix into the northbound travel lane where it was struck by a 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by a 58-year-old Shelby Township man.
The driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix, later identified as Michael Ray Bowlsby, was transported to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Shelby Township man was transported to Henry Ford Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown. The driver of the pick up truck was treated at the scene.
Everyone was wearing their seat belts. However, deputies said they are not sure if Bowlsby was.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident, and the roads were clear and dry.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
