Shelby Township Crime Briefs: Dash Navigation Stolen; Home Burglarized

The following arrest information was supplied by the Shelby Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Navigation System Stolen from Vehicle

The in-dash navigation system was stolen from a vehicle parked on Azure Street near 22 Mile and Schoenherr roads.

The owner of the vehicle told police the vehicle had been parked in a driveway for several days, but the owner didn’t notice the theft until Jan. 20.

Nothing else appeared to be stolen from the vehicle.

 Car, Home Burglarized

After thieves smashed the window of a vehicle parked on the driveway of a home off 23 Mile Road last Saturday, and stole various items, thieves entered the home through the garage.

Police said thieves stole a GPS system, stereo, the homeowner’s purse that contained personal items and credit cards, and kitchen supplies.

No evidence was found at the scene.

Purse Stolen From Vehicle Parked at Evola Music

Thieves broke into a minivan parked at Evola Music and stole a purse from the vehicle sometime between 3 and 4:15 p.m. while the vehicle owner attended a piano lesson.

Police said the window had been forced open by a pry bar and the door frame had been damaged.

The case was closed because there were no suspects.

Church Spray-Painted

Faith Lutheran Church on Shelby Road was vandalized overnight last Friday, police said.

A church official noticed the spray paint on the back wall Saturday morning.
