Shelby Township Man, 30, Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident

The incident, which occurred Friday in Pittsfield Township, remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police.

A 30-year-old Shelby Township man died Friday night after his vehicle drifted off the road, lost control and struck several parked vehicles in Pittsfield Township.

Pittsfield Township police and fire personnel responded to the crash at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, on Washtenaw Avenue near Carpenter Road, according to a press release.

"A single motor vehicle was traveling (eastbound) on Washtenaw Avenue just east of U.S. 23 when it drifted right off of the roadway to the south, lost control and went southeast across the (northbound) U.S. 23 exit ramp to Washtenaw Ave., over an embankment and eventually came to rest in the parking lot of a restaurant after striking several parked vehicles that were unoccupied," the press release said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said.
