Shelby Township Police Apprehend Man After High-Speed Chase

Shelby Township police have arrested a 23-year-old Warren man who lead them on a high-speed chase early Friday morning in a stolen vehicle.
Police say the chase began at approximately 1:40 a.m. this morning after officers saw a 1998 Ford F150 pickup truck, which the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office had been reported as stolen from a Washington Township car dealership, driving southbound on M-53 near 25 Mile Road.
When a police officer attempted to pull over the man driving the truck, the truck sped off and led police on a high-speed chase, according to a police statement.

Shelby Township police say the chase lasted several minutes and that the truck struck a police car before the man pulled into a convenience store parking lot in the vicinity of Shelby and 23 Mile roads, where the driver surrendered to police.
The driver was arrested on charges for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, damage to police property, and driving without a license, according to police.

No injuries were reported in the chase.
