Theft Report: Police Looking for Cologne Thief, Baby Clothing Shoplifter Gets Away

Utica police had a busy week chasing down retail thieves.

Sam's Club Cologne Thief on the Loose

The Utica Police are looking for a man accused of stealing cologne from on several occasions.

On April 20, Sam's Club employees told police they witnessed a man tear open a Curve cologne package and attempt to conceal it in his jacket.

Police said they know the man's identity because he paid for several other items with his credit card, but not the cologne. Store employees said the same man stole a Curve cologne on April 1.

A warrant on two counts of larceny has been issued for the man.

Camera Thief Arrested

The Utica police arrested a man suspected of stealing a Sony digital camera from on April 25.

An employee alerted the police as they watched the 29-year-old Armada man clip the security straps from a $199 digital camera, according to a police report.

Store employees identified the suspect as the man who was in the store in March, the week that more than $6,000 worth of cameras and equipment, were stolen.

Baby-Clothing Thief Flees Store

A woman who packed more than $200 worth of baby clothing into a bag at Carter's in Utica is on the run.

The store manager called police as she witnessed the woman walk out the store with a bag full of unpaid clothing.

The woman was last seen getting into a black vehicle near Schoenherr and Hall roads. Police found the bag of stolen clothes in the parking lot.

The thief is described as black, 50 years old, 5 foot 5 inches and heavy set.
