UPDATE: Shelby Police Release Photos of Bank Robber Disguised as Woman

Shelby Township police are asking for the public's help in solving a crime.

The have released photos of a man wanted in Monday’s on 22 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue.

The man, dressed in women’s clothing, entered the bank around 4:30 p.m. and placed a purse in the door to prevent it from being locked if the alarm sounded, said Shelby Police Capt. Stephen Stanbury.

The robber pointed two fingers at the teller, implying that he had a handgun, but none was seen.

He told the teller to place cash in his purse, and fled the bank.

Stanbury said he got away with $2,400 in cash and discarded the dye packs in the parking lot before they were able to explode.

“It seems like this guy has experience,” Stanbury said.

Nobody inside the bank was injured.

The robber was described as a black male, between 30 to 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing more than 200 pounds.

He was wearing a shoulder-length wig, multicolored floor-length dress, large black sunglasses, a white glove on his right hand and  high-top tennis shoes. He was carrying a handbag.

Police are asking for the public’s help in solving the crime. Also, Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the robber’s arrest.
