Utica Crime Briefs: Home Burglarized; Metal Thieves Hit

Laptop, Jewelry Stolen from Utica Home

A Utica home was burglarized Monday while the homeowners were at work and their children at school.

Thieves stole heirloom jewelry, a laptop, gift cards and cash.

The theft was discovered when the homeowner’s 16-year-old daughter returned home from school to find the front door pried open and the home rummaged through.

Several possible suspects have been identified but no arrests have been made.

Metal Thieves Strike Construction Site

Metal thieves broke into the construction site at Planet Fitness last weekend and stole steel piping.

Construction manager for the fitness center on Schoenherr Road in Utica called police Monday morning to report the weekend theft.

The manager told police six 8-foot round steel piping and two metal wall braces were taken. The total value of the stolen items was more than $1,200.

Gas and Go

Utica Police are looking for a man who drove off with more than $85 of unpaid gasoline from the Shamrock Gas Station Sunday.

The gas station attendant said a white male tore out of the parking lot after filling up.
