Auburn Road to Open Friday

After nearly six months of work, Auburn road will reopen for traffic in Shelby Township.

Macomb County officials announced Auburn road between Dequindre and Ryan roads will reopen Friday.

The one-mile long project, which began in February, included the complete reconstruction of road with new storm sewers, sidewalks, curb and gutters and ADA ramps, according to Macomb County.

As work is completed on Auburn, construction continues on the 23 Mile bridge over M-53, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. There are single-lane closures in each direction on the expressway for bridge reconstruction, and nightly ramp closures from the entrance ramp from westbound 23 Mile Road to southbound M-53 and northbound M-53 exit ramp to westbound 23 Mile Road.

There is also only one lane of traffic in each direction on bridge. This project is expected to be completed in August.
