Board Honors Shelby Paramedic, Police Officer of the Year

Board Extends Tool and Die Companies’ Tax Exemptions

The board agreed to tax exemptions for five more years for Exacto Tooling Co. LLC and Ideal Technology.

Under the Tool and Die Recovery Zone Collaborative, the businesses have been exempt for the past five years from paying single business taxes, Michigan business taxes, real and personal property taxes and local income taxes.

The businesses had asked for an additional eight-year tax exemption, but a motion was made and voted on for a five-year extension.

Jim Ahee with Macomb County said the program was created several years ago to help the tool and die industry after many jobs  had gone oversees.

“I will be strongly voting on this and we have to do whatever we can to help these businesses,” said Township Supervisor Richard Stathakis.

 Engineering Costs for Section 30 Approved

With the preliminary engineering for the Section 30 Drainage project nearly complete, the township approved an additional $23,900 for township engineering firm Fazal Kahn and Associates Inc. to finish the project.

The township is eligible for reimbursement through the federal CDBG funds.

A&A Auto Parts License Renewed

The board of trustees approved a junkyard license for A&A Auto Parts.

Board Approves 911 Police and Fire Technicians Tentative Agreement

The Board of Trustees agreed to approve the 2010-2011 911 Police and Fire Communication Technician’ tentative agreement.

The contract will expire in December 2011.

Recruiting for Vacant Building Director Position

The Board of Trustees has voted to allow the city HR Director to recruit for the vacant building director position.

The previous building director has recently retired.

Township to Recruit for Assessor

HR Director Lisa Suida has asked the township to begin recruiting for an assessor in the Assessing Department. The previous assessor resigned. The board approved Suida’s request.
