Ford Field in Shelby Township Found Safe

There are no signs of chemicals from the former Ford-Visteon plant at the Ford Field complex in Shelby Township.

Environmental tests at Ford Field, located next to the former Ford-Visteon plant on 23 Mile, did not find the presence of chemicals.

Rob Huth, the township attorney, recently told the Board of Trustees that tests conducted by Dr. James Dragun found that there was no signs of a carcinogenic degreasing chemical on the fields or in the retention pond af the recreation facility.

An earlier study by Dragun found the chemical, trichloroethylene (TCE), is spreading east across the site of the former plant in groundwater.
