Lapeer Officials Visit Utica for City Exchange

Officials from Utica and Lapeer shared ideas and toured the city Wednesday as part of Michigan Week activities.

City of Lapeer officials visited Utica Wednesday for the second half of Mayor's Exchange Day, which is held annually as part of the city's Michigan Week festivities.
Utica officials treated their peers from Lapeer to a tour of schools, parks, businesses and municipal facilities.
“Our day in Lapeer was energizing, exciting and very, very fruitful,” said Utica Mayor Jackie Noonan, during a luncheon at Dave and Busters. "We find (the exchange) to be over our many years one of the best learning experiences we have."
Earlier in May, Utica traveled to the county seat of Lapeer County to tour the community and meet with city personnel. According to officials, the exchange of ideas went both ways.
Dale Kerbyson, Lapeer city manager, said enjoyed learning about the historic tours of Utica.
"The exchange is a great idea," Kerbyson said. "It is always interesting to see and learn all about other communities."
