Consent Agenda Approved

Currently the city uses two cell phone service providers, Verizon and Nextel. City workers have said Nextel drops calls, so the board voted to drop Nextel and solely use Verizon as the city’s cell phone provider. Clerk Terri Kowal said the Verizon contract has not yet been signed, but it would not exceed more than $1,800.

7:25 p.m.

Board approves to continue to upgrade Nixle, the city’s notification service.

7:30 p.m.

The Shelby Township Board adopted a resolution to support Macomb Area Communities for Regional Opportunities MACRO, with the township supervisor acting as the representative for the city.

The group is made up of city officials from cities to discuss more service sharing practices.

“We have been working on cost sharing for years,” said Shelby Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis.

7:40 p.m.

The May 3 Shelby Township Board of Trustees meeting was canceled because it conflicts with the Utica Community Schools elections.

7:40 p.m.

 The Board moved to approve, but not exceed, $41,000 for improvements and resurfacing to Dequindre Road between South Boulevard and Auburn Road.

Oakland County woill kick in 50 percent for the project, Macomb pay for 25 percent and other 12.5 perent of the cost would be shared by Rochester and Shelby.

7:45 p.m.

The board voted to pay $9,450 for a temporary easement for the Section 30 drain project.

7:50 p.m.

Board moves to replace the temporary Utility Director with Gary Radulski for the Grade 10 Utility worker, contingent on passing a physical and a drug test.

8 p.m.

The Shelby Township HR Director asked the board to consider a personal vehicle policy. City employees can be reimbursed up to .51 cents a mile if they used their own vehicle for city business. The city approved.

8:15 p.m.

The board adopted a new acceptable Internet use policy for city employees.

8:18 p.m.

The board voted to upgrade the main financial management information server.

8:20 p.m.

Library has asked for $3,200 Early Literacy Station. ELS is a multi-media digital learning center for children ages 3- 10. The library currently has one ELS computer.

The funds are from the Joan Walen Fund, which was recently established with the passing of Joan Walen.

The Board approved the funds.

 8:30 p.m.

Public comment is underway.
