Michigan Election Officials Challenge Shelby's Court Ballot Language

Michigan election officials are challenging the legality of Shelby Township's approved 41A Court ballot question for the February elections.

Michigan election officials have asked Macomb County to hold off on ordering ballots with an advisory question for Shelby Township's Feb. 28 presidential primary election ballot, the Macomb Daily reported.

Last month, the Shelby Township Board of Trustees voted to add an .

The question states: “Do you support the Shelby Township Board of Trustees authorizing funds from the Capital Improvement fund and/or selling bonds for the design and construction of a $5 million (or less) District Court Building even if it means cutting services or raising taxes in order to keep the Court in Shelby Township?”

Shelby Township Supervisor Richard Stathakis has repeatedly said getting the question before voters is very important to him and he will do whatever it takes to get it on the February ballot.
