One Week Left to Pay Winter Taxes in Shelby Township and Utica

As of March 1, all unpaid taxes are considered delinquent and forwarded to the Macomb County Treasurer for payment.

Tax season is well underway and Shelby Township and Utica's deadlines for paying your 2012 winter taxes are fast approaching.

Winter taxes are payable through Feb. 28, 2013 without penalty, but as of March 1, all unpaid taxes are considered delinquent and forwarded to the Macomb County Treasurer for payment. At this stage additional penalties are added by the county. 

Shelby Township

Mail: The Shelby Township tax bill is a one page, letter-sized document with a tear-off return payment coupon on the bottom. Residents should use the provided return envelope when mailing their payment. The mailing address is for the township bank’s processing center in Detroit.

In-Person: Bring your entire tax bill to the Treasurer's Office, 52700 Van Dyke, Shelby Township, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Online or Phone: Pay with a credit card online at OfficialPayments.com or call 1-800-2PAY-TAX. Convenience fees are applied. Use the Jurisdiction Code 3276.

Drop Box: For added convenience, the Shelby Township Treasurer's office accepts the payment of taxes through the drop box located at the 24 Mile Road exit to the Shelby Township Municipal Building at 52700 Van Dyke. The drop box is available 24 hours per day through midnight Feb. 28, 2013.

Local Banks: Taxes that are not past due can also be paid at Comerica or Fifth Third banks in Shelby Township.

Utica

In-Person: Bring your entire tax bill to the Treasurer's Office, 7550 Auburn Rd., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Mail: City of Utica, Treasurer's Office, 7550 Auburn Rd., Utica, MI 48317. Tax payments mailed, with a postmark date of Feb. 28, 2013 or earlier, will be accepted at the City of Utica if received no later than March 7, 2013.

All taxes unpaid at the close of business on Feb. 28, 2013 will be considered delinquent and forwarded to the Macomb County Treasurer for payment.

  • April 15, 2013 is the deadline to file your 2012 federal tax return.
  • April 17, 2013 is the deadline to file your 2012 state tax return in Michigan.
