Road Work Underway on Van Dyke

Crews began construction project on Van Dyke this week from Utica city limits to 23 Mile in Shelby Township.

A new road project started this week on Van Dyke between the Utica limits and 23 Mile in Shelby Township.

The project, which began May 13, is starting with the lane closures for the lowering of the locations of drainage structures, according to the Shelby Township Facebook page

It will also includes the milling and removal of the existing asphalt, before a new layer of asphalt is added.

The project is scheduled to be completed July 1. 

Additionally, the township is reporting 21 Mile over M5-3 will be closed May 17 to May 27 to allow the Michigan Department of Transportation to resurface the bridge. Traffic will be detoured north to 22 Mile via Van Dyke and Schoenherr.
