UPDATE: Santorum to Make Campaign Stop in Shelby Township

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum will attend a rally at the Palazzo Grande Friday morning.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum will make a campaign appearance in Macomb County Friday.

Santorum, a senator from Pennsylvania, will attend a rally at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township Feb. 17.

Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for the complimentary event at the Palazzo Grande on Friday. The rally will begin at 11:15 a.m., and Santorum will answer questions from the audience.

The Palazzo Grande is located at 54660 Van Dyke Ave.

Santorum is contending with Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul for the GOP nomination. He has gained momentum after winning Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, and he has surged ahead of Romney in Michigan, according to recent polls.

Santorum made several appearances in Michigan this week, including a stop at Cobo Center in Detroit on Thursday.

Romney and Gingrich are touring Michigan this week as well.
