Shelby Clerk to Hold Elections Seminar

Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Grot will be hosting a seminar April 17 on "Everything You Need to Know about Elections."

Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Grot will be hosting a seminar sponsored by Citizens Advisory Committee/Sounding Board on "Everything You Need to Know about Elections."

The seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the township municipal building.

Elections experts from the Michigan Secretary of State Bureau of Elections, Macomb County Clerk’s Office, and members of the Shelby Township Clerk's Office will attend the seminar to discuss issues affecting all elections, and answer election-related questions, according to the office.

“Having run three elections including the 2012 Presidential election, I observed that our voters have many questions and concerns regarding the election process.  This seminar will deal with many unanswered questions and will give voters an inside look into our election operations,” said Clerk Stanley Grot in a release. 

The topics include: no-reason absentee voting, ballot splitting, absentee voter ballots, poll workers, online voter registration, discussion on election fraud and new laws affecting elections.

"My goal as Clerk is to make the office of Township Clerk transparent and open by eliminating misinformation and enabling all residents to honestly, to freely, and to knowledgeably participate in elections," he added in a release. "By having the correct information we will save time and provide the best services for our voters.”
