Shelby Township's New Clerk Wants to Hear From You

As promised by Shelby Township's new clerk, Stanley Grot, the first Citizens Advisory Committee has been set in stone.

The kickoff meeting will be April 24 at 6 p.m. at the Shelby Township Community Center next to the library, located at 51670 Van Dyke Avenue, North of 23 Mile Road.

Grot has said the committee meetings will give residents a chance to air their concerns in a less formal environment, minus the cameras and a full board room.

"I believe we have many residents that would like to be involved in the decision-making process who have many suggestions and great ideas, but were never asked of their opinions," Grot wrote on the Shelby Township website. "The talents that we have in Shelby Township with educated, professional, and well-informed citizenry can be applied to solve many problems that we are all facing in these hard economic times."

The meeting will be run like a round-table discussion.

“The agenda will be simple: problems, ideas and solutions,” Grot has said.

Bold ideas are welcome at the meeting, according to Grot. "This is our great chance to reinvent Shelby Township," he added.

In addition, Grot has said he would like to organize an employee appreciation committee, a high school internship program and an ethnic committee.
