Agosta Returns to Ike Squad To Spread School Spirit

Eisenhower senior Betsy Agosta returns to Ike cheer to spread the Ike love and promote school spirit.

Betsy Agosta took last year off from Eisenhower's sideline cheer program to concentrate on her advanced studies.

This year, she's back and more energetic than ever to help share the Ike love and promote school spirit on the football sideline.

In other words, she didn't miss a beat.

"My junior year was academically hard and I was taking an AP class, so I wanted to dedicate more time to my schoolwork," said Agosta.  "Cheer takes up a lot of time."

In her first year on the varsity squad and returning to the program, Agosta is emerging as a team leader and her confidence shows.

"Betsy is a fantastic cheerleader and we are excited to have her back," varsity sideline cheer coach Danielle Sclafani said.  "She is very self-motivated and a great team leader.  She has great skills and is always tight and always smiling.  Betsy is confident and always willing to try new positions and comes up with new ideas.  She's very bubbly, outgoing and just an all-around good athlete."

The squad participated in two camps this summer, one at Alma College and the other at Echo Grove, to prepare for the football season. The camps helped the teammates form bonds and the team in general to gel.

"Our team is getting along really well this year," said Agosta. "It is a whole new group of girls and we didn't really know each other that well.  But after our summer camps, we started to get along really well.  I really like being at the games in front of everyone and supporting our team.  I also like our coach a lot.  She pushes us hard but is understanding about it as well.  It's going to be a fun season."
