Reading in Honor of Former UCS Student

Neeru Sharma is a former Utica Community Schools student who had Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or “brittle bone disease.” Sharma passed away recently, and in memory the family is donating a copy of Jason’s First Day, by Valerie Dusic to each school in the district. The book addresses going to school with a physical disability and is aimed at elementary school students.

To commemorate the donations, the family will attend a reading to all Dresden Elementary School second graders by teacher Krysten Robinson.

Representatives of the Maryland-based Osteogensis Imperfecta Foundation will also attend.
