Free Backpacks Available To Families In Need

Backpackpalooza event set for Aug. 18 in Mt. Clemens, proof of need required

Free backpacks, school supplies, and books are coming to Mt. Clemens. 

This Backpackpalooza event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18th, from
11am until 2pm at Seminole Academy, located at 1500 Mulberry Street.

The free backpacks will be provided to low income students residing in
and attending public schools in southeastern Michigan. This includes children enrolled in Utica Community Schools. 


To receive a free backpack, parents need to provide a valid photo ID,
and proof of need including: a food assistance program card, a Medicaid
card, or last year’s free or reduced lunch approval letter.

All backpacks will be first come, first serve; and are limited to one
per student. Backpacks will only be given to children who are
physically present at the event.

This year’s event is sponsored by Operation: Kid Equip,
UnitedHealthcare and OKE Financial, a part of Affinity Group Credit
Union.
