Scholarship recipients from this year include Connor Hinebaugh, Emilia Kemeza, Rrezarta Marku, Kelli Tomlinson, and Benjamin Weyland; Lucia Biondo, Kyle Lee, Kei Cze Prentis, Ariel Pscheidel, and Julia Roberts; and Henry Ford II High School's Jason Lazzar. Bridgette Mikkelson and Jacqueline Wood also both received scholarships from a fund established with the Shelby Community Foundation by the Detroit Sportsmen Congress.

This is the sixth year the SCF has awarded $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors. Winners applied and proved their status with impressive grades, school activities and community involvement. All students are considered and the scholarships are reviewed by a committee. Grades are important but community involvement with volunteer time along with extracurricular activities play a major role.

The Community Foundation is a non-profit foundation created for the people of Shelby Township supporting a broad range of activities including college scholarships, Macomb family services, youth activities, Shelby library, and various community organizations. Since 1997, the foundation has provided grants worth in excess of $475,000 including 67 scholarships to Shelby Township high school seniors.

Community Foundation chairman James R. Andary also enjoyed the golfing.

"It's a beautiful day, a great day to dig up the greens," said Andary. "Thanks to all who are here—they are following our motto—give where you live, for the kids."
