Utica High Valedictorian, Sport Captain Heads To Harvard

Whiz Kid Connor Hinebaugh is class Valedictorian, three-sport standout and much more.

Whiz Kid:  Connor Hinebaugh

Accomplishments:  Connor Hinebaugh's star shines brightly over Utica High School.  The senior Chieftain has worked hard and played hard for four years at the school and has emerged as Valedictorian of his class (1 out of 453). 

Academically, Hinebaugh is an AP Scholar with Distinction, National Honor Society member, and won the Utica Math and Science Center Top 10 Award in 2008.  In grade 9, he received the Principal's Award for scholarship, leadership and citizenship. He is heading to Harvard in the fall, but he said he doesn't know what he wants to study yet.

Hinebaugh is the current Student Council President, after serving as last year's Secretary and member the two previous years. 

The Utica senior also rocks on the field, in the gym and on the track.

Hinebaugh has been the starting quarterback of the football team for three years and served as captain for two.  This year, he made the Macomb Area Conference White 1st team, Macomb County 1st team and all-state, 1st team academic.

Hinebaugh has been a three-year starter and two-year captain for the basketball team and has participated in varsity track for three years.

In his spare time, he participated and was a 2011 regional winner and state qualifier in the Health Occupations Students of America competition.  In 2010, Hinebaugh was the regional winner and finished 8th in the state.

He also was a member of the Principal's Advisory Committee (9th grade), Quiz Bowl participant (12th grade), Chieftain of the Month, served on the Chieftain Pride Club, among many other school, church and community activities.

Key to Success:  When asked what his key to success is, Hinebaugh simply and confidently stated,  "If you work hard, good things happen."
