Last Friday, Eisenhower Student Council kicked off the beginning of Spring Break by holding their annual "Charity Basketball game", where select students play against teachers on the court, supporting the Cassie Hines Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer.
Cassie Hines, a graduate of Eisenhower, recently passed away as the result of a rare form of kidney cancer at the young age of 21. A memorial was held in honor of her this year with the long-standing support of current staff, students, and of course - the family of Cassie Hines.
Every student was asked to donate $1 to watch the basketball game.
One of the Ike teachers, Mr. Tom Antishin, gave students a challenge to donate. If students raised over $100 in one hour, not only would he match the amount of money raised, but he would also wear glittered, high-heeled shoes and shoot for a free-throw basket. Needless to say, over $200 was raised in one hour, and he kept to his promise, and shot 2 baskets in the heels.
Over $2,000 was raised Friday to benefit this great cause.
