Sabiston a Solid Stopper for Utica Soccer

Utica High School senior Kristen Sabiston plays solid defense and is a great role model for her teammates.

Kristen Sabiston is a solid stopper for the Chieftains and so much more.

The senior has played varsity soccer all four of her high school years and has provided leadership and direction for her team every step of the way.

"Kristen is a true leader and captain of our team," Utica coach Dave Moran said. "She has led the team for four years and has been a great role model for her teammates. Her work ethic is fantastic and she always gives 100 percent in games and practices. Kristen is also very hard on herself and pushes herself to improve. She does a lot of work in the offseason to better herself for the season."

On the field in her role as stopper, Sabiston controls and organizes the defense and on occasion will be the one to mark opponents' strikers.

"Kristen is solid and she's the type of player that can plug up the center of the field for you," said Moran. "She has a big foot and knows when to use it and conversely when to combine with her teammates."
