School Is Out Today! Treat Your Graduate to a Rubber Ducky Race

Check dismissal times for the last day of school and find something fun to do with your new graduate.

The last day of school for Utica Community Schools is finally here!

All schools will be dismissed earlier today, but the buses will still run, so watch for your excited children as they run home from the bus stop for the last time this school year.

  • High School Dismissal: 10:22 a.m.
  • Junior High School Dismissal: 11:12 a.m.
  • Elementary School Dismissal: 12:07 p.m.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your children to mark the last day of school, head down to Dodge Park in Sterling Heights and watch more than 1,000 rubber ducks float down the Clinton River.

Beginning at 3 p.m., members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee will be holding their first Rubber Ducky race on the Clinton River to support scholarships for UCS graduates.

Interested residents can support the cause by renting ducks for $5 or buying and decorating one for $10. The duck that finishes first will give its owner a $500 savings bond, the second-place duck owner will receive a $250 savings bond, and the last-place duck owner will receive a $75 savings bond.

While most kids are free for the summer, Macomb County teacher Ellen Cross has prepared some summer learning tips to keep the little one’s minds active.
